FAQs

  • I currently accept Lyra Health and am an Out-Of-Network (OON) provider for all other insurance companies. I also accept HSA payments.

This means that you would pay for your session in full, and then submit your receipt to your insurance company for OON reimbursement (if applicable). You can check your OON benefits easily through this link: https://app.mentaya.com/register?p=AJMuPa1b7RkEE9T2tC7d

I realize that submitting paperwork to insurance companies can be daunting. To make the process easier I partnered with a company called Mentaya who helps submit documentation to your insurance for you.

Involving your insurance company in your mental/emotional health care is a personal decision. Health insurance companies make mental health care affordable for many people. Yet, many choose not to involve insurance companies in their care. Here is why:

To have therapy services covered under insurance, they require that mental health treatment be “medically necessary.”

To be medically necessary, a mental health diagnosis must be made. This diagnosis becomes a part of your permanent medical records. The insurance company can also review your records at their discretion.

They may limit your benefit to a certain number of sessions, or a certain method of treatment.

On the other hand, if you choose to pay out-of-pocket, I can assure you the highest degree of privacy, flexibility and control that is allowed by Washington state law over your mental health record. Your record will be exempt from insurance reporting and audits. We will work collaboratively to decide how often to attend therapy and you decide what you want to focus on. You have the control, not the insurance company.

Additionally, many clients find that the investment they make in therapy pays off in the form of improved mental health and a better quality of life.

  • Each 50-minute session, is billed at $175. Payment is taken the day of each session via autopay with a credit card on file.

If you have a health savings account, most HSAs can be used to cover therapy costs. Please inquire with your HSA company directly.

  • Cancellations within 24 hours of the appointment will be charged the full session rate. If you need to cancel within 24 hours and can find another available appointment within the same week (Monday-Sunday), there will be no cancellation fee.

  • The Good Faith Estimate provision of the No Surprises Act is designed to give consumers predictability in how much they will be charged for healthcare services, prior to their appointment.

The No Surprises Act includes a requirement for medical providers to give a “good faith estimate” of the cost of services to clients not using insurance. The overall goal is to avoid surprise medical bills.

The good faith estimate must include an outline indicating how long you will be receiving services and what the total cost of services will be. Due to the variable nature of therapy, it’s difficult for us to make an accurate estimation prior to our first session. It’s also difficult to state how many sessions you will need…especially before we’ve met. Taking these guidelines into consideration, and so that we remain compliant, it is likely that your good faith estimate will be more than you will end up spending.

What is balance billing, sometimes called surprise billing?

When you see a doctor or other health care provider, you may owe certain out-of-pocket costs, such as a copayment, coinsurance, and/or a deductible. You may have other costs or have to pay the entire bill if you see a provider or visit a health care facility that isn’t in your health plan’s network.

“Out-of-network” describes providers and facilities that haven’t signed a contract with your health plan. Out-of-network providers may be permitted to bill you for the difference between what your plan agreed to pay and the full amount charged for a service. This is called “balance billing.”This amount is likely more than in-network costs for the same service and might not count toward your annual out-of-pocket limit.

“Surprise billing” is an unexpected balance bill. This can happen when you can’t control who is involved in your care—like when you have an emergency or when you schedule a visit at an in-network facility but are unexpectedly treated by an out-of-network provider.

    It’s Private

With Telehealth, the need to visit a physical office location is eliminated. No front desk check-ins, no awkward waiting rooms. You can attend therapy sessions from the privacy and comfort of your own home.

    It’s Flexible

Telehealth makes it easier to schedule during hours when you otherwise may not have been able to. Rescheduling is also made easier with the absence of a commute to meet at a different time should other obligations arise.

    It’s Accessible

Telehealth and video conferencing allows more people to access care within Washington State without worrying about access to transportation, road conditions, and location.
